#Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 19, 2026
TL;DR: Anything you publish on Personal Goober is public. Signing in creates a public profile (your Discord username, display name, and avatar), and anyone — even without an account — can see it and your bundles. We keep every version of every bundle you publish, a record that you published it, and a count of how many times it's been downloaded. We don't run analytics, ads, or tracking cookies. If you'd like a copy of everything we hold about you, or want it corrected or permanently deleted, email legal@personalgoober.app.
This page covers the Personal Goober website (personalgoober.app) and the
bundle registry behind it. It does not cover the Personal Goober desktop
app itself, which runs entirely on your own machine — nothing it hears or does
is sent to us.
#Who we are
Personal Goober is a hobby project run by two individuals, not a company. You can reach us at legal@personalgoober.app.
#Just browsing
If you're only reading docs or browsing bundles, we collect nothing about you directly:
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking cookies. There are no third-party scripts on the site.
- Server logs. Like nearly every website, the servers that host the site and the registry may keep standard request logs (your IP address, browser user agent, the pages you requested, and when). These are used only to keep the site running and to debug problems, and are cleared out on a rolling basis.
- Your theme choice (light or dark) is saved in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
#Signing in
Sign-in is through Discord. When you sign in, Discord tells us:
- your Discord user ID
- your username and display name
- your avatar
- the email address on your Discord account
We use your ID, username, and avatar to run your account. We do not use your email address for anything — Discord sends it as part of a standard sign-in and it sits unused in your session. We never store it, and we never email you unless you emailed us first.
Every time you sign in, the registry records you in its user database:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your Discord ID, username, display name, and avatar URL | This is your profile. It's created the first time you sign in and refreshed from Discord on every sign-in |
| When you first signed in | Shown on your profile as "Joined" |
| When you last signed in | Kept for housekeeping (e.g. spotting dormant accounts). Not shown to anyone |
Your profile at /u/your-username is public — including your username,
display name, avatar, and join date — from the moment you first sign in, even
if you never publish anything. We don't keep a log of individual sign-ins
beyond the first and most recent.
Your session itself is kept in an encrypted, HTTP-only cookie in your browser. It expires after 30 days or when you sign out, and it exists only so the site knows who you are between page loads — which makes it strictly necessary and not something you can opt out of while staying signed in.
Discord has its own privacy policy that governs what Discord does with your data.
#Publishing a bundle
This is the part where we actually keep something. When you publish a bundle, the registry stores:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
The .zip you upload, and what's inside it (actions, phrases, info.json) |
So people can download and install it |
| The summary, description, tags, and changelog you type in | Shown on the bundle's page |
| Which user published it (your Discord ID) | So the bundle is attributed to you and links to your profile |
| When it was published and last updated | Shown on the page, used for sorting |
| Every version you've ever published | Version history is permanent, so people can roll back and audit changes |
| A download count per bundle | Shown on the page, used for the "popular" sort. We count downloads; we don't record who downloaded what |
| Whether a moderator marked it trusted, and which moderator did | So trust decisions can be audited |
All of this is public, including to people who aren't signed in. Your
profile at /u/your-username lists your bundles, and the registry's data is
also available to the desktop app and to anyone who asks it nicely. Don't put
anything in a bundle, a description, or a changelog that you wouldn't want on
the open internet.
Your profile displays your Discord avatar by loading it from Discord's servers, so Discord sees a request for that image from anyone who views your profile.
#Deleting a bundle
You can delete any of your bundles from your profile page. Deleted bundles are hidden immediately and kept in a recoverable state for a short retention period, during which you can restore them and moderators can still see them. After that they're permanently removed along with their version history.
If you want your account and every trace of it gone — all bundles, all versions, your user record — email us and we'll do it by hand.
#Moderation
A small number of moderators can see recently deleted bundles and mark bundles or specific versions as "trusted". The registry records which moderator made each trust decision and when. Moderators see the same information about you that's already public; they don't get anything extra.
#The local installer
The "Install to Personal Goober" button and the /install page talk to the
desktop app running on your own computer, over a local connection. Bundle
files you drag into the installer go straight from your browser to your app
and are never uploaded to us.
The one exception: before installing a local file, the installer sends us the file's SHA-256 hash (a fingerprint, not the file) so we can tell you whether a moderator has reviewed that exact bundle. We don't store these lookups.
#Who else sees your data
- Discord — handles sign-in and serves avatar images.
- Our hosting providers — run the servers and keep the request logs described above.
That's the list. We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or hand it to anyone else, unless we're legally required to.
#Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- See everything we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete it, permanently
Email legal@personalgoober.app from an address you can prove is yours, or message us on Discord from the account in question, and we'll sort it out. Some of it you can do yourself: sign out to drop your session, and delete bundles from your profile. Removing your user record (and with it your profile) is something we do by hand — just ask.
#Kids
Personal Goober isn't aimed at children under 13, and Discord doesn't allow accounts for them either. If you think a child has published something here, tell us and we'll remove it.
#Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Anything significant will also be mentioned in the Discord.
